The type locality on Trangan Island lies in a luxuriant rainforest on the downstream side of a spectacular 75 m-long limestone tunnel. The stream has about 10-12 m width, 0.5-2.0 m depth and relatively clear and slow-flowing water with a rocky limestone bottom and abundant cover mainly in the form of submerged fallen tree limbs. Another location on Kobroor Island where the species occurs is also lined by luxuriant forest and has 15-20 m width, 1-3 m depth, and clear and slow flowing water. The margins of the channel are composed of abundant, partially submerged terrestrial plants, which offered abundant shelter for small fishes.
Why "one cm of fish per liter" falls short, and what adult size, schools, territory and swimming zones mean for how many fish a tank can hold.
Two aquariums from Southeast Asia: calm forest streams and peat swamps with soft, brown water, and fast mountain streams with cool, oxygen-rich water.
From the store to the tank: how to get the fish used to your water, why you should add only a few at a time, and what to watch for in the first few days.
Why new fish should live in a tank of their own for a few weeks before they move in, what you need, and what to look for.
