Vittina natalensis, commonly known as spotted nerite, red spotted snail or zebra nerite, is a species of small freshwater snail with an operculum, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Neritidae, the nerites. It returns to brackish waters to reproduce. This is a popular aquarium snail, sold because it looks attractive and eats algae in freshwater tanks, but can only reproduce in saltwater or brackish water conditions.
The most common algae in the aquarium, how to recognize them, and why the cause is almost always an imbalance of light and nutrients.
Two completely different aquariums: forest rivers with soft, brown water, roots and leaves, and Rift Valley lake cichlids in hard, alkaline water with big rock piles.
Dwarf shrimp and snails that brighten up and tidy the tank: which are easy to start with, what they need from the water, and who they can live with.
